Field Day

So today was field day, and boy am I exhausted.  I don’t know how our PE teachers do it all day long.  I give them so much credit.  It is a different kind of tired after being outside in the Florida sun all day.  I have to say it was a lot of fun and super organized.
We started with relay races on the basketball courts.  Then moved to a big ball game, where the kids had to sit on the ground in a circle and kick it with their feet.  After that they got to the hoppity-hop and bounce on balls in a race.  There was the three-legged race, which is always fun to watch.  And my personal favorite: the parachute.  I got some great pics of the kids with the parachute as the background.  We still had more fun, with bubbles, water relays and freeze dance.  We actually didn’t get to finish our morning activities because we had to go to lunch, but the kids had so much fun. In the afternoon, we had more relays, tug-of-war, hula hoops, Frisbees and more.  We ended our day with ice-pops and went back in to cool down with a movie. Can you understand the exhaustion?  It was non-stop action all day!

Now that field day is over, I am planning for the end of the year.  I made my own End-of-the-year keepsake book and can’t wait to try it out for the first time.  I wrote my own rhymes to go on each page.  I love rhymes and poetry, so it's hard to put my work out their for the first time. I hope my kids like it:D  I included some cute surfing kids, so I think it will be a great way to remember the school year. Here it is.   Also, I have some great beach-themed word building lessons to try out.
I found great beach Letters and created 25 word-building lessons.  Along with that are 'sandcastle' recording sheets.  These lessons can be used all year long, but I'm hoping that the theme behind it will help keep my students engaged for the last 27 days of school.  Click on the pictures and let me know what you think.

Enjoy,
