How awesome is this?!  I absolutely love this poster. Besides the fact that it is in one of my favorite designs-Chalkboard, the saying is just right. We need to see some more INTEGRITY!

There is a whole set of posters in this style, with great sayings, styles, and designs. Stay tuned and I will be revealing more of what's to come. :0)

These are the newest Chalkboard Reward Phrases Stickers.  Aren't they so much fun?!  I love the different fonts, colors and variety of wording. These will be great to put on papers, test, and quizzes. Plus they add that old school flare!

So what do you think? Do you like what you see so far?  I'd love to hear what you think!

Throwback Earth Day

* Yes today was Earth Day. And Yes, I did so much fun EArth Day activity from my Earth Day Fundamentals Pack. But, I took absolutely no pictures! Ahh!
So I'm showing you what we did last year, Although not exactly the same, it was pretty close *
**********************************************************************
Don't you just love when you have a brainstorm?
I knew I wanted to make a large Earth for Earth Day--So I started this morning.
Back in February we made a graph for Groundhog Day on blue paper.
I decided to "REUSE" That paper and make the EARTH!  yay!  But it gets better.  I planned on drawing or getting green construction paper to make the land.  But then it hit me!
I had my class trace their hands on green paper instead--I then used their hands to make the land!
I found a map of the Earth on Google and projected it onto my Earth. I traced out the land forms and then started having the kids bring up their hands. I also broke out my much love Dots on Turquoise letters from CTP to make the header!
1.I had them write their names on their hands, so it is really "their" Earth!

2. Can you tell it's S. America?

3. North America

4. We also started our I {heart} Earth Booklet. Monday we will be cleaning up our campus so I don't think we will have time for everything in my little Earth Day Fundamentals Unit!!
I hope you can use some of these ideas in your classroom for Earth day!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Austism Awareness

This week our school "Lit it up Blue" for Autism Awareness.  I want to share an amazing song that a local student wrote for Autism awareness. He was a student at my school, although he was never in my class.
Stay with You by Mozart Sobrinho
He came back to school to play for our morning announcements and this video was created to support a walk for Autism in my area. I seriously started crying listening to this young man sing this song. I hope you are moved as much as I was. Listen and enjoy.

Measurement Fun

Today is my first day back after Spring Break. April Fools--the first day back?  Yes, I'm not joking.
so I decided to start the day with a little fun--with non-standard units of measurement as our next Math unit, I had just the thing.

First I began with a cute little story Called How Big is a Foot?
It's a cute little story about a King who wants to give his Queen a present that she doesn't have. It incorporates the idea that not all feet are the same and how the Standard unit of a Foot came to be.

Next, we tested this theory and we ALL, me included, traced our feet. You can see them in our chart here.

After we took some time to order our feet from Smallest to biggest, we talked about how this might be a problem when measuring things in real life.
I then, gave each student a mustache that I cut using Mustache border from Creative Teaching Press.
I mustached them to measure a few different items and record it in their notebooks.

Pardon my horrible drawing of the mustaches.  But, that being said, I demonstrated how to use the mustache to measure and move it along the length of an item.

At the end of the lesson, I asked the class to turn their mustache over and write what they had learned. Voila! non-Standard units of measurement fun!
